Norfolk - Willie Cooper of 7400 Sewells Point road died in a hospital after a 
short illness.

A native of Plymouth, NC, he was the husband of Mrs. Mabel Cooper and a son of 
the late Willie and Mrs. Clementine Cooper.

He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 23 years and was a member of Mt. 
Gilead Baptist Church.

Besides his widow, surviving are five sons, Tony Cooper of Norfolk, Charles 
Cooper and Ralph Cooper of Washington, Lafayette Cooper of New York, and Eugene 
Cooper of Newark, NJ;  five daughters, Mrs. Ruth Elliott and Mrs. Elizabeth 
Grier of Norfolk and Mrs. Doris Hokett, Mrs. Rose Murphy, and Mrs. Barbara 
Matthews of Washington;  a sister, Mrs. Bertha Griffin of Brooklyn;  27 
grandchildren;  and 10 great-grandchildren;  and 10 great-grandchildren.

Graves Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
