Virginian-Pilot, April 23, 1910
Mrs. Mattie A. Cooper, wife of Clarence Cooper, died at her home on the Point 
at 2:30 o'clock a.m. yesterday after a protracted illness in the 28th year of 
her age. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Emma, and her 
father, Benjamin Spady, of Norfolk. The deceased was a native of Norfolk, where 
she had many friends who esteemed her most highly for her many beautiful traits 
of character. The funeral will be held from Emanuel Episcopal Church at 3 
o'clock Sunday afternoon.
