Cooper died at his home, Hickory, Va., Monday afternoon, December 9, after a lingering illness. The deceased had resided in Norfolk County for twenty-three years, where he was well known and highly esteemed for his many excellent traits of character. He is survived by a widow and six children-- Mrs. J.J. Morse, Jr., of Willoughby Beach; Mrs. M.D. Buchanan, of Portsmouth; Mrs.T.B. Gray, of Moyock, N.C.; Miss Carrie Cooper, Clyde and Julian Cooper. The funeral was held from his late residence Wednesday, December 11, at 10 a.m. The service was conducted by Rev. M.S. Elliott, pastor of the Methodist Church, assisted by Rev. A.W. Burfoot. The obsequies were attended by Union Lodge of Odd Fellows, of which the deceased was a member. The interment was in Magnolia cemetery, Berkley ward, and the pallbearers were as follows: J.T. Roach, W.H. Lockhart, G.E. Wood, C.L. Wood, C.E. Roby and B.O. Fentress.
