Copeland, 68, of 1001 Denhart street, a retired coal trimmer who spent 42 years on the piers, was given a funeral service Tuesday at New Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Copeland died at his home Feb. 3. His eulogy was delivered by Elder Samuel A.Wilson, pastor of New Calvary. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery under direction of Morning Glory Funeral Home. The deceased was a native of Winfall, NC. He was a Norfolk resident 53 years, and held membership in New Calvary Church and Eastern Light lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Emma Copeland; three sons, William and James Copeland of Norfolk and Clarence Copeland of Washington; and a daughter, Mrs. Emma Dixon of Chicago.
