He was a son of William and Mrs. Julia Copeland and the widower of Mrs. Helen V. Copeland. He was a native of Farmville, Va., and lived in Norfolk 25 years. He had been employed by Southern Block & Pipe Co. 15 years and more recently by the City of Norfolk 5 years. He was a member of Rist Baptist Church of Bollingbrook. Surviving are four sons, Charlie Copeland, Howard Copeland, Alexander Copeland and Joe Louis Copeland of Norfolk; six daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Mayfield of Washington, Miss Bessie Copeland, Miss Julia Copeland, Miss Helen Copeland, Miss Mattie Copeland, and Miss Mary L. Copeland of Norfolk; and two brothers, Theodore Copeland and Robert Lee Copeland of Farmville, Va. The body was taken to Riddick Funeral Service.
