NORFOLK - Mrs. Helen Virginia Copeland, 53, of 207 Seekel St. died Friday in a 
Norfolk hospital after a long illness.

She was a daughter of the late Robert and Mrs. Mattie Carter and born in 
Cumberland County, Va. She lived in Norfolk 31 years.

Surviving are her widower, Harvey Copeland; four sons, Howard Copeland, Charles 
Copeland, Alexander Copeland and Joe Copeland of Norfolk; six daughters, Mrs. 
Dorothy Mayfield of Washington, and Misses Bessie Copeland, July Copeland, Helen 
Copeland, Mattie Copeland and Mary Copeland of Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. 
Courtney Farrow of Roduco, N.C., Mrs. Mattie Cater of Farmville and Mrs. Lena 
Wright of Pittsburgh; and five brothers, Willie Carter, Frank Carter and Andrew 
Cater of Farmville, Charlie Carter of Baltimore, and Napoleon Carter of Norfolk.

The body was taken to Graves Funeral Home.
