NORFOLK — Lena E. Copes, 97, of the Lydia Roper Home, died Sunday in a hospital. 
She was a native of Whitley County, Ky., and the widow of A. Vicar Copes.
Mrs. Copes was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, the Rev. V. Earl Copes of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, 
Virginia Peace of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Mary Phillips of Louisville, Ky.; 
two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Private services will be held today in Elmwood Cemetery. A memorial service will 
be held in the Lydia Roper Home. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, is in 
charge.
