VIRGINIA BEACH - Josephine "Jo" Gelardi Copley, 80, of the 800 block of St. Martin 
Drive, went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2003.

She was born on May 10, 1922, and was a lifelong resident of Tidewater. She was a 
member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Josephine was a realtor for GSH 
Real Estate, a member of P.W.P. and the Norfolk F.O.P. She was predeceased by two 
siblings, Michael Gelardi and Irene Brown.

She is survived by three sons, Robert D. Copley Jr., and his wife, Renee, of 
Norfolk, Eugene G. Copley, II, and Ralph J. Copley, both of Virginia Beach; 
daughter, Janet Copley Walston, and her husband, Dennis, of Chesapeake; brother, 
David V. Gelardi, of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, Robert D. Copley, III, 
Ryan J. Copley, and Matthew V. Walston; aunt, Pauline Vellines, of Norfolk; and 
two nieces, Jane Cordovana and Joyce Steele.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Wednesday at St. Gregory the 
Great Catholic Church with Fr. John Mary Tompkins, O.S.B., celebrant. Burial will 
follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday 
from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, with a prayer service at 
6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of
