A native of Norfolk, she was a daughter of John T. and Mrs. Letitia N. Cooper. She was employed by Norfolk School Board for 46 years and was a principal more than 30 years. She was a graduate of Virginia State College and Columbia University and was a member of Bank Street Baptist Church, Norfolk Teachers Association, Virginia Teachers Association, National Education Association and Norfolk Principals Association. Surviving are two brothers, Dr. S. F. Coppedge of Norfolk and James E. Coppedge of Fayetteville, NC, and two nieces. Mrs. Lorena C. Carter of Fayetteville and Mrs. Velma C. Bunch of Norfolk. The body was taken to Riddick Funeral Service. A funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. in Bank Street Baptist Church by the Rev. John B. Henderson. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The body will be in the church at 11 a.m. Thursday.
