Corbell of the police force, whose death has already been alluded to in these columns, took place at 2 o’clock yesterday, afternoon from his late residence on Riley street, the interment being made in Elmwood Cemetery. The Rev. J. F. Twitty, pastor of the Queen Street M. E. Church, preached the funeral sermon at the house and conducted the final religious services at the grave, to which the remains were followed by a considerable concourse of friends, relatives and acquaintances, and by the whole police force, except certain members on duty, under command of Chief Joseph A. Rolland. As the cortege wended its way to the cemetery, the bell in the city jail tower was slowly tolled in a token of respect to the memory of the deceased. The pallbearers were: Police – Sergeant M. J. Vellines, Officers G. M. Graham and J. E. Hambury. Citizens – Messrs. Thos. Lowry, E. M. Grey and Luther Dear.
