H. Corley were brought to this city on yesterday morning from Hampton by the steamer Luray, Captain Schermerhorn. They were landed at the Bay Line wharf, and taken to the late residence of the deceased, No. 186 Freemason street, by the following gentlemen acting as pallbearers: Messrs. W. T. Walke, B. A. Marsden, Arthur Humphreys, T. B. Rowland, A. F. Santos, W. W. Old and C. Pickett. At 12 M., the mayor, as the deceased was a member of the Common Council, ordered the flag on the City Hall to be put at half-mast and the city offices to be closed from 4 to 6 P.M., during the progress of the funeral ceremonies. At 5 P.M., the funeral services over the deceased were conducted at his late residence, by the Rev. Beverly D. Tucker, rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, there being a large attendance of sympathizing friends. The remains were then interred in Elmwood Cemetery, the following gentlemen acting as pallbearers: W. W. Old, W. T. Walke, C. Pickett, T. B. Rowland, Jno. B. Whitehead, Andrew Heath. The Common and Select Councils attended the funeral in a body, and a detachment of twenty-eight officers, under Assistant Chief of Police Mann, escorted the remains to the cemetery.
