Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - December 17, 1993 
Irving Ray Cornette, 74, of the 800 block of Goff St., died Wednesday in a 
Hampton hospital. 
Mr. Cornette was born in Norfolk and was the widower of Bobbie Smith Cornette. 
He was a retired commercial fisherman and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. 
Survivors include his son, Douglas Cornette of Duck, N.C.; five stepdaughters, 
Brenda Mathews, Beverly Brown, Wendy Emory, Bonnie North and Vickie Woolard, 
all of Chesapeake; three sisters, Vivian Lamar of Shenandoah, Va., Elizabeth 
Kitchen of Jersey Shore, Pa., and Gloria Wicker of Virginia Beach; two 
brothers, Jack Cornette of Petersburg, W.Va., and William L. Cornette of 
Chesapeake; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Riverside Memorial 
Park, Norfolk, by the Rev. Willis Dowling. Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge 
Chapel, is handling arrangements.
