The Rev. Robert Davis, pastor at the church, in which Mr. Corprew served as an elder, was to officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood. Mr. Corprew died of a heart attack and his death was a shock to his family and friends as he had not complained of feeling badly. A native of Norfolk he was born in the old Burruss home on West Freemason Street and was the son of the late John Bartee Corprew and Mrs. Elizabeth Augusta Burruss Corprew. His wife, the former Sue L. Cummings of Wilmington, N.C., died 12 years ago. He attended Gatewood School and in his early days was employed by Burruss Son and Company and later by the Texas Oil Company for a brief period. Surviving him are two daughters, Mrs. E.M. Hardy and Mrs. W.R. Ashburn; three grandchildren, William R. Ashburn, Jr., Mrs. Joseph Cotton, Jr., and Miss Virginia Ashburn, all of Virginia Beach and a brother, Edwin E. Corprew, of Richmond.
