Drowned Man’s Funeral
Alex Corprew’s Many Friends Attended His Obsequies

The remains of Alexander Corprew, the colored driver who was drowned at 
McCullough’s Dock Saturday, were laid to rest in West Point Cemetery Sunday 
afternoon, after a funeral service which was held at the Bute Street Baptist 
Church, at 4 o’clock p.m.
The deceased was a deacon of the Bute Street Church and his funeral was very 
largely attended, the Odd Fellows and Seven Wise Men, to which he belonged, 
being present in body. The obsequies were conducted by the pastor of the 
church, Rev. R.H. Bowling.
