Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark July 15, 1927

Mrs. Lillian East Cortes, daughter of the late Edward R. East and Mary Woodhouse 
East and wife of Armand Cortes, well known in Broadway theatrical circles and 
motion pictures, died Wednesday morning in New York, relatives here were advised 
yesterday. The body will be brought here for burial tomorrow morning. Services 
will be held at the grave in Elmwood Cemetery at 8 o'clock, the Rev. E.P. Miner, 
of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, officiating. 
Mrs. Cortes formerly resided in Norfolk and besides her husband, is survived by 
two brothers, Clifton East, of New York City and Lloyd East, of the Marine 
Corps, now on duty in China; one sister, Mrs. Alonzo N. Heron, of New York and 
several nieces and nephews.
