Mrs. Lucy Barry Cory, 42, native and former resident of Norfolk and a sister of 
Mrs. W. Edwin Spellings, Jr., of Norfolk, died suddenly Saturday afternoon at 4:15 
o’clock in New York City.
She was a daughter of the late C. Moran and Mrs. Clare Falls Barry. She and her 
husband, James William Cory, had lived in New York for 17 years. Besides her 
husband and sister, she is survived by an additional sister, Mrs. George C. Hope, 
of Parksley, and a brother, C. Moran Barry, Jr., of Birmingham, Ala.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 2 p.m. at the H. D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments by the Rt. Rev. George P. Gunn, bishop coadjutor of the Southern 
Diocese of the Episcopal Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
