The Norfolk Virginian Pilot March 25, 1936
William M. Cosby, aged 53, a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk, died at 
5:45 o'clock yesterday morning at a local hospital. Besides his wife, Mrs. 
Alena R. Cosby, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. James Thornton and Miss 
Mildred Cosby; one son, James Cosby; two grandchildren, James Cosby, Jr., and 
William Cosby; two brothers, Henry V. Cosby and Andrew Cosby, and one sister, 
Mrs. Maggie Freeney. Mr. Cosby resided at 810 Fifth street, Riverside.
Services will be held at H.D. Oliver's Funeral Apartments, 610-612 East 
Freemason street, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in Elmwood 
Cemetery.
