Costin, who was knocked down by a buggy at City Hall Avenue and Granby Street Saturday night, the details of which were giving in Sunday’s Virginian, died at the Retreat for the Sick Sunday night about 9 o’clock. He never regained consciousness. The police are looking for the occupants of the buggy, who drove off rapidly. An autopsy was held yesterday, conducted by Dr. James Riddick in the presence of Coroners Charters and Newton, when it was found that the death resulted from concussion of the brain, the skull being fractured and the brain clotted with blood. A jury viewed the remains and adjourned over until today. The deceased during the war was a sergeant in the United Artillery and served under Capt. Thomas Kevill. He was a member of Pickett-Buchanan Camp, C.V., a detail of which attended his funeral yesterday afternoon at 4 o’clock, the services being conducted by the chaplain of the camp, Rev. B. D. Tucker, at the grave in Elmwood Cemetery.
