Norfolk Virginian Pilot October 16, 1952

Edward Leonard Cote, 72, husband of Mrs. Mary Anne McDermin Cote and son of 
Peter and Mrs. Matilda Cote, died yesterday at 1:30 p.m. at a Norfolk hospital.
Mr. Cote was a native of Lake Luzerne, N.Y. and had been a resident of Norfolk 
for 50 years, residing at 616 Graydon Avenue at the time of his death. He was a 
member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, of the Holy Name Society, of Norfolk 
Council 367, Knights of Columbus and was a life member of Norfolk Lodge 38, 
B.P.O. Elks.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Mary Anne McDermin Cote, he is survived by one son, 
William G. Cote, of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. F.D. Kelley, of New York and a 
number of nieces and nephews.
The body will be taken from the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to Sacred Heart 
Catholic Church for services tomorrow at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's 
Cemetery. Rosary services will be conducted at the funeral apartments tonight at 
7:30 o'clock.

Edward Leonard Cote — Funeral services for Mr. Cote, who died Wednesday were 
conducted at Sacred Heart Catholic Church yesterday at 10 a. m. by the Rev. 
Edward W. Johnson, pastor. Present in the sanctuary were the Rev. Walter W. 
Herbert, the Rev. Raymond McIntyre and the Rev. Richard Rivard. Burial was in 
St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Pallbearers were R. P. Smith, F. B. Hatton, C. P. Nelms, 
C. C. Freed, T. J. Johnson Jr., M. J. Walsh Jr., Dr. N. G. Wilson and H. H. 
Penner.
