Cotton, 69, widow of Samuel P. Cotton and daughter of William and Mrs. Rebecca Bluford Adams, died yesterday at 2 a.m. at a Norfolk hospital. She was a native of Portsmouth, and a lifelong resident of this section, residing at 426 West Ocean View Avenue at the time of her death. She was a member of the Church of the Advent, Ocean View. Surviving here are four daughters, Mrs. Paul D. Harris, Sr., Mrs. John D. Cunningham, Mrs. James B. Moore and Mrs. Margaret Cotton Kinzer, all of Norfolk; two sons, Samuel P. Cotton, Jr., of Southgate, Calif., and Elmer J. Cotton, of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. Lula V. Powell, of Norfolk, and seven grandchildren. The body will be taken from the H.D. Oliver Funeral Home to the Episcopal Church of the Advent, Ocean View, of which Mrs. Cotton was a member, at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow, to lie in state until 2:30 p.m., when funeral services will be conducted by the church rector, the Rev. J.F.W. Field. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
