A former member of the State Board of Public Welfare, she was a pioneer in the suffrage movement for women and was long active in local civic and political affairs. She was a member of the Christian Science Church. She is survived by a son, Dr. Monroe Couper of Waynesboro; and four grandchildren. A private funeral service was held in Cox Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery will follow cremation.
