PORTSMOUTH — William R. Cousins Jr., 72, of 3108 Rolen Drive, a native of 
Portsmouth, died Tuesday in a hospital.
Mr. Cousins had retired as an agent for Home Beneficial Life Insurance Co. He was 
a member of Catholic Church of the Resurrection and St. Paul’s Council 418, 
Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Barrenton Cousins; three daughters, Kay 
Elizabeth House of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Christina Ryan Kennedy of Graham, Wash., and 
Virginia Eileen Gamer of Bristol, Tenn.; a son, Army Lt. Col. William R. Cousins 
III of Fort Bragg, N.C.; a stepdaughter, Mary Suzanne Dwyer of Virginia Beach; a 
sister, Margaret Ray of Portsmouth; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday in Catholic Church 
of the Resurrection by the Rev. James Bonomo. Burial will be in St. Mary's 
Cemetery, Norfolk.
A Christian wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in Foster Funeral Home. 
Memorial donations may be sent to the American Heart Association.
