 Norfolk - Venson Covington of 900 Philpotts Road died June 23 in a 
hospital.

He was a native of Rockingham, NC, and the husband of Mrs. Hazel Covington.  
He was a son of the late George and Mrs. Rosanna G. Covington.

He was a former president of Local 1248, International Longshoremen’s 
Association;  a member of New Calvary Baptist Church and the Usher Board;  
and a member of New Light Masonic Lodge 196.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ella Wilform and Mrs. 
Ett Wilforn of Edison, NJ, and a brother, Odd Covington of Bennettsville, 
SC.

A funeral service was conducted June 28 in New Calvary Baptist Church by the 
Rev. Milton Reid.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Graves Funderal Home 
in charge.
