Augustus Cowdery, who died Wednesday night, was held yesterday afternoon at 6 o'clock from Christ Episcopal Church. Impressive services were conducted by Dr. Carl E. Grammer, rector of the church, in the presence of the deceased's relatives and close friends. Appropriate floral offerings were laid on the bier of the deceased by the loving hands of relatives. The interment was in Elmwood: the following well-known Norfolkians, all great nephews of the deceased acting as pall-bearers: Mr. R. C. Taylor, Mr. W. H. Taylor, Dr. Southgate Leigh, Mr. John B. Whitehead, Mr. Hugh G. Whitehead, Col. Walter H. Taylor, Mr. Richard C. Taylor and Mr. J. Saunders Taylor. Mr. Cowdery was well known and highly respected in Norfolk. His family is an o old and honored one, and highly connected. Additional Comments: Burial was in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Norfolk, VA.
