She was the daughter of the late Robert and Mrs. Matilda Lamb Wiginton and widow of the late E. L. Cox, for many years one of Berkley's most prominent citizens and undertakers. She is survived by these children: Mrs. C. C. Barclay, of Virginia Beach; Mrs. C. H. Culpepper, of Portsmouth; E. Lee Cox, R. L. Cox, Mrs. E. C. Savage, W. W. Cox, Miss Sadie Cox, all of this city; also two nieces, Mrs. Joseph Bailey, Norfolk; Mrs. H. Bardin, of Flordia, and a nephew, W. G. Sawyer, Norfolk county. She was a native of Moyock, Currituck county, N. C., and had been a resident of this city thirty-one years, during which time she had won many warm friends. She was especially prominent in church circles, being one of the oldest members of the Berkley Avenue Baptist church. She was a constant church worker and was well known for benevolent deeds among the poor. Mrs. Cox was taken ill several months ago from a stroke of paralysis while on a visit to her son, W. W. Cox, in Colonial Place. The funeral will be conducted in Berkley Avenue Baptist Church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. R. D. Stephenson, pastor, assisted by Rev. S. J. Battin, pastor of Memorial Methodist Church. Burial will take place in the family lot in Magnolia cemetery Thursday and will be private.
