Norfolk Landmark August 2, 1892
Yesterday morning the body of Captain Asbury Craddock was found floating nin the 
Roanoke dock. Coroner E. V. Newton, when notified, summoned a jury o inquest whose 
verdict was that the deceased came to his death by accidental drowning. Captain 
Craddock was a well-known steamboat man and was about 55 years of age. He was last 
seen alive Saturday night and was engaged watching a pile of watermelons not far 
from the place where his body was found, and it is supposed that he fell overboard 
while asleep.
