"Squirl" Cradle , 73, of the 700 block of Bold St., died Nov. 22, 2007, at home. Born in Hyde, N.C., he was the widower of Helen Cradle . He was a member of United House of Prayer For All People, Portsmouth, where he was a deacon. Survivors include five daughters, Deborah Shaw (Timothy), Vernessa Lee, Patricia Cradle , Verjeanna Cradle and Tamarah Bell (Gregory), all of Portsmouth; stepson, Anthony Miller; sister, Lillie Green of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, David Cradle of Charlotte, N.C., and Johnny Cradle of Alaska; 15 grandchildren including a special granddaughter, Latesha Cradle of Portsmouth; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends including a best friend, Deacon Henry Rodgers. He was predeceased by his parents, Annie Cradle and James Cradle , two sisters and one brother. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in United House of Prayer For All People, Portsmouth, by Apostle John Rodgers. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. Friday.
