NORFOLK — Sylvia I. Crary, of 1016 W. 36th St., died Friday in her home. Before 
her retirement, she was a librarian at Booker T. Washington High School and 
Oakwood Elementary School in the Norfolk public school system. She held a master’s 
degree from Hampton University, formerly Hampton Institute, and was a member for 
many years of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include a brother and nieces and nephews.
The graveside funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in St. Mary’s Cemetery by 
the Rev. Thomas J. Quinlan. A Christian wake service will be held in Hale Funeral 
Home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to local charities. 
The family will be at her home.
