Capt. Crellin was stricken with paralysis some time ago, and his death was not unexpected. For many years he was engaged in seafaring, but latterly was agent for the Underwriters of New York, Philadelphia and Baltimore; Grain inspector for Norfolk and Newport News, and a Pilot Commissioner, he was also a member of Norfolk Lodge No. 1, A.F. and A.M., and the Masonic Mutual Beneficial Association. He was a man greatly beloved by all who knew him, and many flags were placed at half-mast in respect to his memory. His funeral took place from his late residence, No. 106 Cumberland street, yesterday afternoon at l:30 o’clock and was largely attended. Rev. J.B. Merritt, chaplain of the Seamen’s Bethel, conducted the services, and the pallbearers were: Messrs. D.C. Lassiter and John M. Gibbs, of Norfolk Lodge No. 1, A.F. and A.M.; Captain C.F.M. Spottswood and Mr. Frank L. Slade, citizens; Captain Wm A. Graves, Sr., Pilot Commissioner, and Captain Charles Nelson, Virginia Pilots’ Association.
