A native of Vance County, N.C., he lived in this area 20 years. He was the husband of Mrs. Lucille Smith Porter Crews and a son of Mrs. Annie Gooch Crews of Oxford, N.C, and the late Wilmont H. Crews Sr. He was a bridge tender for Norfolk & Western Railway. He was a member of Kempsville Baptist Church and Kempsville Lions Club. Surviving, besides the widow and mother, are a daughter, Mrs. Linda Ryburn of Chino, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Emily Shearin of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Miss Mildred Crews of Oxford; four brothers, Hickman Crews of Henderson, N.C., Sherwood Cheatham and Amos Cheatham of Oxford, and J.B. Crews of Davenport, Iowa; and three grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Norfolk, Thursday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Charles H. Jones of Kempsville Baptist Church and the Rev. Arnold B. Blount. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk.
