NORFOLK - Jacob "Jay" M. Crockin, 79, recent resident of Richmond, died Oct. 10, 
2003.
He was born in Norfolk, lived in Newport News for 20 years and returned to 
Norfolk for most of his adult life. He was preceded in death by his wife 
Dorothy, parents Jacob and Ida Crockin, brother Lawrence, and sisters Rena Fivel 
and Libby Zeno.
He is survived by his children, Alan and Susan Crockin of Atlanta, Cathy and 
Larry Kinzler of Richmond, and Joyce Crockin of Norfolk; grandchildren, Ilana 
and Brandon Anderson, Lara Crockin, Philip Kinzler and Hilary Kinzler; great-
grandson, Dylan Anderson; and sisters Berniece Pilzer and Thelma Covner.
Mr. Crockin served in the U.S. Navy for four years as a petty officer first 
class during World War II. He was a retired retailer and had been a longtime 
member of Ohef Sholom Temple in Norfolk. He was very active in civic, business 
and religious organizations while in Newport News.
A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk Sunday at 1 
p.m. by Rabbi Lawrence A. Forman and Cantor Jennifer Bern-Vogel. In lieu of 
flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation 
for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 
10163 or to Ohef Sholom Temple, 530 Raleigh Ave., Norfolk, VA 23507.
The family will be at the home of Ilana and Brandon Anderson immediately 
following the service. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling 
arrangements.
