That hour came to Norman Leigh Cromwell Jr. on May 7, 2025, at 2:05 PM. Norman, affectionately called "Little Nate" and later "Nate" by his sisters is the son of Norman Leigh Cromwell Sr. and Theresa Floyd Jones Cromwell. Norman was born in Norfolk, Virginia on September 29, 1960. He was the youngest child and only son of four children born to Norman Sr. and Theresa. Norman is a direct descendant of three veterans of "The War for Freedom" (American Civil War): Captain's Cook Philip Beslow, United States Navy, PFC Richard Cromwell, U.S.C.T. and Landsman Edward Bland, United States Navy. Norman attended the public schools of Norfolk, graduating from Booker T. Washington High School in 1978. He went on to attend Norfolk State College where he majored in Communication. Norman worked many jobs. One was a parking garage supervisor for the City of Norfolk. He recently retired from Seagate Terminals. Norman's only child, Nyema Cromwell. Norman found his greatest joy in caring for his beloved Nyema. He was dedicated to his "Boody Boo" who always brought a smile to his face. His love for Nyema has no end. Norman was a quiet, and kind man. Handsome and brawny he had a strong spirit. He was the apple of his parents' eyes and the perfect baby brother to his doting sisters. He was strong willed but possessed a "good Samaritan spirit". He was always willing to help whoever needed assistance. Norman loved sports, especially NFL Football and NBA Basketball. His favorite football team was the Miami Dolphins. Norman was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Bettina Hattie Cromwell. Left to cherish his precious memory are his beloved daughter Nyema; his sisters, Vermenia Cromwell Washington (Ronald) and Norma Cromwell Fields (Anthony); his nieces, Jenning Cromwell Branch (Ronald) and Kendra Robinson (James); his nephews, Anthony Fields Jr. (Helene), Christopher Fields (Kelly) and Ronald Washington Jr.; special friend, Nyema's mother, Angela Scott; and a host of cousins and friends.
