She was the wife of Dr. Albert V. Crosby and a daughter of Thomas and Mrs. Isabell Wood Parry. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She was a past president of the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs and the Federation of Garden Clubs of Norfolk and Vicinity. An accredited flower show judge in Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York, she taught garden subjects in eight states, exhibited and judged in out-of-town shows, and helped organize many garden clubs. She was chairman of the Women's Division of the Eastern Virginia War Bonds drive and received the Quota Club’s international award for services rendered during World War II. She was also a past president of the Pilot Club and was instrumental in having Norfolk plant crepe myrtle, now the city's flower. The Marion Crosby Garden Club was named for her, and she was honored by the city with the creation of the Marion Crosby Ferndale, a fern and wildflower garden in the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Hope Crosby Moessner of Norfolk; a son, Albert V. Crosby Jr. of Virginia Beach; and four grandchildren. The Rosary will be recited in H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments Sunday at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Newport Avenue. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to a favorite charity.
