Virginian-Pilot April 11, 1967
NORFOLK - Arthur L. Cross, 81, of 1060 Manchester Ave., the husband of Mrs. 
Laura Poyner Cross and a son of Samuel and Mrs. Drucilla Brinson Cross, died in 
a hospital Monday at 5:15 a.m.
A native of Portsmouth, he was a lifelong resident of the Norfolk and Portsmouth 
area. He was a member of Larchmont Methodist Church. He retired in 1955 from 
Seaboard Citizen’s National Bank bookkeeping department after 50 years of 
service.
Besides his widow, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Elsie Cross Miller of 
New York and Miss Mildred Cross of Norfolk; three sons, Richard A. Cross of 
Yuma, Ariz., Thomas L. Cross and Earl S. Cross of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. Mary 
Cherry of Portsmouth; and two grandchildren.
The body will be taken from Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, to 
Elmwood Cemetery for a funeral service today at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Walter S. 
Green of Larchmont Methodist Church.
