The Virginian Pilot and Norfolk Landmark May 22, 1931 
Merritt Gilbert Cruser, aged 39 years, son of the late James H. and Emma Parker 
Cruser, died at 3:30 o'clock yesterday morning at a local hospital. He was a 
native and lifelong resident of Norfolk, and resided at 4708 Colonial avenue. 
Besides his wife, Mrs. Ethel Finley Cruser, he is survived by five sons, 
Richard S., Merritt G., Jr., R. Finley, James C., and Lawrence Cruser; two 
sisters, Mrs. Olive B. Lambert, and Mrs. Sandford Taylor; three brothers, 
Melvin E., Lawrence C., and James R. Cruser. Services will be held at H.D. 
Oliver's Funeral Apartments, 610-12 East Freemason street, tomorrow afternoon 
at 2:30 o'clock. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
