Virginian-Pilot  March 11, 1916
The funeral of Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Cunningham took place yesterday at 10 a.m. at 
St. Mary’s Catholic church, conducted by Rev. John J. Doherty, and was largely 
attended. There were many floral offerings, the coffin being covered with a pall 
of white roses and smilax. "Lord, Thou Art My Protector," was sung by Mrs. James 
Hughes, and "Lead Kindly Light,” by Miss Mary Smith. Burial was in St. Mary’s 
cemetery, the pallbearers being: B. C. Henley and E. H. Scott, from the Virginia 
Pilots’ Association: T. S. Fitzgibbons, B. J. Thompson, W. E. Doherty, B. D. 
Melcher, John Mariner, M. McKevitt, R. M. Eastwood, Henry Billups, P. J. Riley and 
O. J. Egerton, citizens.
