The Virginian Pilot Tuesday November 29, 1966
Mrs. Mattie M. Curling, 86, of Route 4, Fentress, died Monday at 4:30 p.m. 
in a Newport News hospital after a long illness.
A native of Currituck County, N.C., she lived here 70 years.  She was the 
widow of James F. Curling and a daughter of Lafayette and Mrs. Elizabeth 
Powers Curling.
She was a member of Fairmount Park Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mittie C. Drew of Norfolk and Mrs. Grace 
C. Olah of Chesapeake; two sons, Ernest B. Curling of Frostproof, Fla. and 
Layman O. Curling of Norfolk; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 
four great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Francis A. Gay Funeral 
Home by the Rev. L.P. Foley.  Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Norfolk.
