He was a lifelong resident of Tidewater. He worked 30 years for the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway and also the Atlantic & Danville Railroad and retired. He formerly owned Tidewater Port Service. A Methodist, he was a past president of the Norfolk Jaycees. He was a member of the Norfolk-Portsmouth Traffic Club and charter member of the Norfolk Civitan Club. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mary Curling Wolfinger of Washington and Mrs. Kathy Curling Hammonds of Norfolk; four sisters, Mrs. E. V. Jobe of Washington, Mrs. Leolyn Curling Gregory of Portsmouth, Mrs. Rosamond Curling Sadler of Virginia Beach, and Mrs. George N. Badran of Norfolk; and five grandchildren. A funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. James H. Nowell of Knox Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9.
