A native of Fentress, he was a mechanic with Chilean Nitrate Sales Corp. and an Army Veteran of World War II. He was a son of the late Herbert D. Curtis Sr. and Mrs. Essie Marie McCormick Curtis. He was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church. He is survived by four brothers, William S. Curtis, Herbert D. Curtis, Jr., J.L. Curtis and James W. Curtis, all of Chesapeake. A funeral service will be held in Graham Funeral Home Wednesday at 10 a.m. by the Rev. Donfred Stockert. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. The Office of the Dead will be held in the funeral home tonight at 7:30.
