Susan M. Curtis, Teacher, Is Dead

Miss Susan M. Curtis, a teacher at the Crestwood High School, Norfolk County, for 20
years, died at her residence, 1429 Chapel Street, yesterday. She also was head of
the social studies department and was a funeral directress.

Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth C. Milner; two nieces, Misses Willa and
Harriet Milner; an aunt, Mrs. Nancy T. Wheeler, Portsmouth mortician, and three
uncles, Dr. S.A. Thomas, of Newport News, Joseph Thomas, of Mt. Vernon, N.Y., and
Jeremiah Thomas, of Portsmouth.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Bank Street Baptist
Church by Dr. John B. Henderson. Burial will be in the family plot in Calvary
Cemetery. The body will be taken from the Wheeler Funeral Home in Portsmouth to the
residence Monday night and will be removed to the church Tuesday at noon to lie in
state until the funeral hour.
