Born in Norfolk, Mr. Curtis was the owner of South Norfolk Auto Parts, which he operated for 45 years. He also retired from St. Matthews Catholic School after 10 years. He was a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving from 1943 to 1945 in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Curtis was the oldest member of St. Matthews Catholic Church, joining in 1926, and he also served as an usher. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Matthews Men's Club, South Norfolk, and the first Chesapeake Board of Education, VFW and the Chesapeake Jaycees. He was an avid golfer and was also on the Board of Bid-A-Wee Golf Course. Mr. Curtis is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie Nebb Curtis; two sons, Thomas Lynn Curtis, and wife, Becky, of Portsmouth, and Herbert Rodney Curtis, and wife, Chari, of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Katherine Curtis Wilton, and husband, Blane, of Wilmington, N.C.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Vincent Eugene Curtis, Sr., of Chesapeake; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews; and special children, Richard and Kay Brown, Ted Burger and the Rev. Fr. Frank Wiggins. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Matthews Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Facura and Fr. Frank Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, Sunday from 4 to 5:30 p.m. with a Christian wake at 5:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
