A lifelong resident of Norfolk, he was the husband of Mrs. Teresa Waldis Curtis and a son of Richard Curtis Jr. and Mrs. Rosa Kelly Curtis. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was a bookkeeper and teller with Merchantile Bank, Norfolk, in 1917 and later manager of Virginia Bank & Trust Co., Virginia Beach. On Feb. 1,1929, he became vice president of Merchants & Mechanics Savings Bank, Norfolk, and was later made executive vice president and cashier. He was a retired director of Seaboard Citizens National Bank. He was a graduate of Maury High School and Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary, Division of Accountancy. He was a member of Knights of Columbus 367, Norfolk Sports Club, American Institute of Banking, Norfolk Chamber of Commerce, YMCA Health Club, Ryan Club, Lay Advisory Board of De Paul Hospital, Norfolk Catholic High School Board and Zoning Appeals Committee and an honorary member of Norfolk Elks Lodge 38. He was a past president of Catholic Child and Family Welfare. Besides his wife, he is survived by a brother, Jack C. Curtis of Norfolk, and nieces. The Rosary will be recited in H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tonight at 7:30. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
