SPRINGFIELD GARDEN, L.I., N.Y. - James Custus Sr. of 144-47 187th St., a native 
of Norfolk, died Tuesday in his home after a short illness.

He was the husband of Mrs. Sallie Custus and a son of the late Louis and Mrs. 
Lillie Satterfield Custus.

He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Long Island, and a former member 
of First Baptist Church, Bute Street, Norfolk.

Besides his widow, surviving are two sons, Edward Custus of San Diego, Calif., 
and Lawrence Custus of San Francisco; a brother, George Custus of New York; and 
three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Simmons of Norfolk and Mrs. Marion Henderson and Mrs. 
Gladys Doss of New York.

The body was sent to Graves Funeral Home, Norfolk.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk, 
by the Rev. James C. Griffin.

The family in Norfolk will be at the home of Miss Virginia Davison of 821 
Johnston Road.
