NORFOLK - Sallie D. Custus of 821 Johnstons Road, a native of Charlotte, N.C., 
and the widow of James L. Custus Sr., died June 25 in a hospital.

She had retired as a cashier in an A&P Supermarket in New York. She was a member 
of St. John AME Church, the Nannie Phelps Missionary Society, the Lay 
Organization and the Chesapeake fellowship group.

Survivors include two sons, Lawrence G. Custus of San Francisco and Edward A. 
Custus of San Diego; three sisters, Virginia L. Davidson of Norfolk, Willie M. 
Wiley of Virginia Beach and Hattie D. Daniels of Springfield Gardens, N.Y.; a 
brother, Oren S. Davidson of Norfolk; 11 grandchildren; and three great-
grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. John AME Church by the Rev. 
W.C. Davis. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, with Graves Funeral Home in 
charge.

The family will be at the residence.
