The youngest child of William H. and Mamie Butts Walker, she was born May 1, 1912. She received her bachelor's degree from Virginia State College in Petersburg, Va. She retired from the Norfolk Public School System in 1972. A lifelong member of First Baptist Church Bute Street, she was a member of the Dora Billups Missionary Circle and the Do All We Can Club. Her community and professional affiliations included the Education Association of Norfolk, The Virginia State University Alumni Association and the Order of the Eastern Star, Adah Chapter No. 20. She is survived by four nieces, Marie E. Johnson (Everette), Martha E. Almond, both of Norfolk, Evelyn Winslow of Louisville, Ky. and Anna C. Garnett of Philadelphia, Pa.; a nephew; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral will be held today at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church Bute Street. The Rev. Dr. Robert G. Murray will be officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery . Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
