Dabney, 86, Lawyer, Of Norfolk James Cabell Dabney, 86, retired Norfolk lawyer who practiced here more than 50 years, died Thursday at 6:45 p.m. in a Norfolk hospital. For many years his law office was in the Monticello Arcade. He retired 2 1/2 years ago. He was a member of the Norfolk and Portsmouth Bar Association and an alumnus of University of Virginia Law School. Born in Charlottesville, he lived in Norfolk 60 years, lately at 227 W. Freemason St. He was a son of William Cecil and Mrs. Jane Bell Minor Dabney. He was a member of Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Surviving are one son, William Minor Dabney of Albuquerque, N.M.; two daughters, Miss Elizabeth Dabney and Miss Mary Beverley Dabney of Norfolk; and one sister, Mrs. E. Ruffin Jones of Staunton. The body will be taken from H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to Christ and St. Luke's Church for a funeral service Saturday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
