NORFOLK - Mary Beverley Dabney, a native of Norfolk, daughter of James Cabell
and Mary Beverley Whittle Dabney, died in Norfolk on March 22, 2002.

Educated in Norfolk schools, she attended Randolph-Macon Woman's College, the
Norfolk Division of William and Mary and Old Dominion University, and received
degrees from the College of William and Mary and the University of Virginia.
Miss Dabney taught in the Norfolk Public school system for 38 years.

Her volunteer service included work with the Junior League of Norfolk and
Virginia Beach, The League of Women Voters, various World War II organizations,
the Friends of the Norfolk Public Library and the Irene Leach Foundation.

She held membership in various environmental organizations, professional
educational organizations and musical organizations such as the Virginia
Symphony and the Feldman Chamber Music Society.

She was a member of Saint Luke's Episcopal Church, and later Christ and Saint
Luke's Episcopal Church.

She was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Calvert Page Dabney and her
brother, William Minor Dabney. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Jeanne
Patterson (Mrs. William Minor) Dabney; her nieces, the Rev. Virginia Dabney
Brown, Mary Dabney Rockefeller, Elizabeth Sinclair Dabney Puckett; her nephew,
Daniel Patterson Dabney; three great-nieces; and a great-nephew.

The funeral will be at Christ and St. Luke's Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday. H.D. O
Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
