Janet was a lifelong resident of Norfolk, where she attended Old St. Mary’s Academy and Holy Trinity High School, where she graduated. Later, she attended music and drama classes at Old Dominion University, where she excelled in voice and piano. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. Janet was one of nine children of James Lee and Isabel Poole Buck. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ernest S. Dailey and three sons, Kevin Patrick Dailey, James Brian Dailey, and Darren Charles Dailey, all of whom she was extremely proud; she also liked to brag about her four grandchildren, Jamie, Stephen, Erin and Galen Dailey. She is also survived by five sisters, Marylee B. Schaefer, of Stone Mountain, Ga., Shirley B. Todd, and Adrienne B. Neal, of Virginia Beach, Nina B. Browder, of Orlando, Fla., and Rita Buck, of Norfolk; her older brother, C. Warren Buck, resides in King of Prussia, Pa. She was predeceased by another brother, David E. Buck, and a sister, Dorothy B. McLawhorn. A funeral Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Norfolk by Father Venancio R. Balarote, Jr. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Norfolk. There will be a Christian wake at the Norfolk Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments Thursday at 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church Building Fund, 7800 Halprin Drive, Norfolk.
