DALTON, NORFOLK SOUTHERN EXECUTIVE, DIES John Frederick Dalton, of 941 Baldwin Avenue, director of industrial and agricultural development for the Norfolk Southern Railway Company, died unexpectedly yesterday at 6:20 p.m. in a Norfolk hospital. A lifelong resident of Norfolk, he was the husband of Mrs. Frances Weiter Dalton. His late parents were Captain Thomas Francis and Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Dunn Dalton. Dalton had been with the Norfolk Southern for 46 years and was vice president of the traffic department from 1942 until 1948, when he took the directorship of industrial and agricultural development for the railway. Prior to 1910, he worked a short while for both the Southern Railway and the Seaboard Air Line Railroad in Norfolk. He attended Norfolk College. Besides his wife, surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Dalton Browne and Mrs. Robert Randolph, both of Norfolk, and one brother, Thomas A. Dalton, of Richmond; three nephews, J. J. Browne Jr. and Robert Randolph Jr., both of Norfolk, and Dalton Treadwell, of Elkton, Md.; and one niece, Mrs. Martin Dwyer, of Elkton. The body will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, of which he was a member, for services tomorrow at 11 a.m. Rosary services will be held today at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral apartments. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
