Born Sept. 15, 1916, he was the son of the late Andrew J. Dalton Jr. and the late Grace Mordica Dalton. He graduated from Maury High School in Norfolk and St. Charles College in Catonsville, Md. He attended St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore, Md., and left the seminary to serve as a naval officer during World War II. Following his service, he joined the Isthmian Steamship Company as its representative in the Far East and Indian subcontinent until his retirement. He was predeceased by his sister, Grace Dalton Cahill and her husband John and his brother, Allan T. Dalton and his wife, Jacqueline. He is survived by his nieces, Anne- Taylor Cahill and Jane Kirby Dalton Cahill Womble and her husband Wayne and his nephews, John James Cahill II, A.J. Dalton Cahill and his wife Lisa and Allan D.D. Cahill and his wife Cherie. He is also survived by his great- nieces, Lara Barrett Cahill- Booth and her husband Brian and Lesley Cahill Carney and her husband Samuel, as well as his great-great nephews, Samuel Edward Carney and Conrad Cahill Booth. A funeral including celebration of a Mass and burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk, will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad, 740 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23451. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
